  4. Merry Christmas!

OK, in the spirit, I feel like I have to admit something. Years ago, I was a fan of yours, and commented on more than a few threads (not under this name, though). I remember the likes of Stardusty Psyche, Papalinton, and others. Obviously, a great deal has changed in the fifteen-odd years since then. My initial hostility when I returned is now something I regret. God Bless.

    1. I remember those names..And Son of Y, DNW and others. I have posted here for over 12 years, always as Anonymous. Sometimes to vent. Sometimes to inform. Sometimes to argue. I'm not sure what difference any of that made.

    2. Yes, EXE. Let the hostility go. That's what I am trying to do. Unfortunately, the Internet seems to encourage it.

    3. Gotta say, I think 2010-2015 was the golden era of this blog's comment section, at least in terms of the personnel commenting and the depth of the discussion. I learned a great deal from the back and forth I witnessed there.

      Anyway, Merry Christmas to all!

    4. We need a history of the blog. It seems some of you guys would be better able to write it than me!

    5. That would more of less track, I suppose. The late 2000s and early 2010s were the peak of the New Atheist movement, which is what gave this blog its most vigorous activity. After that, they split up into various small groups, some becoming absorbed into the Progressive movement while others went the complete opposite direction, embracing Far Right xenophobia, even fascism in some cases. Richard Spencer, one of the most prominent Neo-Nazis in America, was a big fan of Christopher Hitchens.

  5. Merry Christmas, Ed. I am the anonymous Grinch who makes the off topic comments that you delete. But I appreciate your tweet.
